We keep cookie usage as light as possible — only what is needed for the site to remember your preferences. There is no advertising cookie and no behavioural tracker on gistin.ae.
What we store
We use the browser's local storage (technically not a cookie, but covered here for transparency) for one purpose only:
- gistin-locale — remembers your chosen interface language (English, French or Arabic) so the site loads in that language on your next visit.
- gistin-cookie-ack — remembers that you closed the cookie notice, so it doesn't reappear.
Anonymous analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to count how many visits the site receives and which sections are most read. Vercel Analytics does not set any cookie, does not collect personally identifiable information and respects the Do Not Track signal — visitor counting is done through a daily-rotated, hashed signal that cannot be reused to track you across days or sites.
Third-party content
When you press play on the award video, an embedded YouTube player loads from youtube-nocookie.com — Google's privacy-enhanced mode that does not set cookies until you actually start the video. Once started, YouTube may set its own cookies; please refer to Google's privacy policy.
Managing your preferences
You can clear your browser's local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will reset the site's interface language to English on the next visit and bring the cookie notice back.
