Cookies policy

We keep cookie usage as light as possible, only what is needed for the site to remember your preferences. There is no advertising cookie and no behavioural tracker on gistin.ae.
What we store
We use the browser's local storage (technically not a cookie, but covered here for transparency) for two purposes:
- gistin-locale: remembers your chosen interface language (English, French or Arabic) so the site loads in that language on your next visit.
- gistin-cookie-ack: remembers that you closed the cookie notice, so it doesn't reappear.
Audience measurement
Visits are counted by Umami, which we host ourselves. Umami sets no cookie and writes nothing to your device: a visit is attached to a session through a fingerprint computed on the server, whose salt is rotated every day, so the same visitor cannot be recognised from one day to the next nor from one site to another. Advertising measurement
When a Google Ads identifier is configured on the site, gtag.js is loaded from googletagmanager.com so that conversions can be attributed to advertising campaigns. Google then sets its own cookies on your browser, governed by Google's own policy. When no identifier is configured, the tag is not loaded and no cookie is set.
Third-party content
When you press play on the award video, an embedded YouTube player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, Google's privacy-enhanced mode that does not set cookies until you actually start the video. Once started, YouTube may set its own cookies; please refer to Google's privacy policy.
The news article covering the ESGRS award embeds a post published on X. Displaying it loads widgets.js from platform.twitter.com; X receives your IP address and your browser, and may set its own cookies. The embed is requested with the do-not-track flag, which limits that collection but does not remove it.
Managing your preferences
You can clear your browser's local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will reset the site's interface language to English on the next visit and bring the notice back. Be aware that the notice displayed at the bottom of the page is informational: closing it records only that you have seen it, and does not switch any measurement on or off.
