Award ceremony of the ESGRS Challenge, Earth Observation Edition.

The ESGRS Challenge reveals innovative solutions that have the potential to make a positive impact on real-world environmental cases, among others. They can also be applied to public-policy use cases. The 2023 edition focused on developing GIS and Remote Sensing-based solutions, from natural-disaster response to climate monitoring. Our team submitted G3DAR (GIS & 3D Solutions Applied to Risk Assessment), a research project led at the United Arab Emirates University.

We received the 1st place award for the depth of the geospatial pipeline (collection → unified base → 3D twin → flood scenario → targeted alerts) and the alignment with the Abu Dhabi Climate Change Adaptation Plan.

This project is the methodological foundation of Gistin's commercial platform. The award confirms a broader thesis: 3D climate simulation is no longer a research toy. It is an operational infrastructure that the UAE territory needs as extreme rainfall events become more frequent.
